4 warning you may be dealing with a bad business partner

If you’re looking for a business partner or found someone who you think is the perfect fit for your establishment, but something’s bugging you about their character, then it may be time to take a step back.

It’s often important to understand when a business partner isn’t the right person for the job. Here’s how you may spot one:

1. Every mistake is somehow yours

A business partnership is a joint effort; what you do affects your business partner and vice versa. But, if there are issues that keep showing up because of your partner and they blame it on you, then you may need to consider looking for someone who is responsible for their actions.

2. Customers and clients would rather deal with you

Do you have a lot of people who would rather work with you than even consider talking to your business partner? That could be a huge sign that there’s something off about your partner. As it’s often said, the customer knows best and they may help you understand your partner better.

3. There’s constant fighting

Whether it’s with you or with other parties, your business partner may consistently create conflicts. While some issues may be a lack of understanding, there could be, simply, communication issues. You may need to consider if these issues are reasonable or a direct result of your partner’s actions.

4. They make grand promises

Be wary of the business partner who floods you with praise and makes bold promises. They may be covering up something that’ll drastically change your relationship with them. In other words, if it’s too good to be true, then it likely is.

You don’t want to be stuck in a scenario where you’re sharing a business with someone who’ll only drag you down. You may need to understand your legal rights when creating or breaking a business partnership.
